If your accuracy is starting to deviate, or you're getting a lot of "flyers", tighten the barrel nut. Your groups should tighten up significantly. This tool allows you to fully dis-assemble your S&W M&P 15-22 and get every nook and cranny clean. It also allows you to put free floating handguards on when you install the MP15-22 Free Float Handguard Thread Converter (see "Related Products" below).
This is the hobyist version of the Professional/Gunsmith barrel nut wrench for the 15-22. You get one tool per purchase.
It is machined from the highest quality U.S. steel bar stock available. Designed and manufactured completely in the U.S, using state of the art computers and machining centers.
The lugs are designed to fit snuggly, with minimum movement, to keep the nut from getting damaged. And the outside of the wrench fits nicely inside the stock handguard.
There is a little work you need to do (drill a hole or weld) once it gets to you. But for the person who likes to tinker, it will be a piece of cake.
Step by step, simple instructions will come with the wrench. The 10" long 3/4" pipe (steel or ABS) does not.
Do NOT hold the rifle by the upper or lower reciever for doing any barrel work. Only clamp onto the barrel. Our Barrel Vise Jaws work great.
You will get many years of trouble free use from this barrel nut wrench, providing you don't gorilla the thing.
One bit of trivia, the barrel nut will not fit over a standard diameter muzzle device, such as the A2 birdcage. So you have to remove the barrel end to remove the barrel nut and barrel.
